First Snow Day

Today was the boy's first snow day of the New Year! They were all very anxious to get outside. The younger boys stayed outside for less than a half hour, but the older boys lasted a good hour+ outside. They made snowmen and igloos and threw snowballs. Gavin, I think was more anxious for what follows snow play- hot cocoa! It was a fun day overall, but I think we're good with snow for awhile now Mother Nature;)

Puzzle Jumping

Ethan and Gavin have really been enjoying puzzles lately. They always liked them, but just recently started doing more complicated ones. Today we did a pirate one together, though they did most of the work themselves. After completing the puzzle, they immediately started doing flying jumps over the puzzle. Gavin has quite the jump and even lands well.

Spring in January

This weekend we lucked out with some beautiful spring-like weather. We ventured out to Kid's Kove to let the boys burn some energy and boy did they. They love Kid's Kove and could spend hours there. We took a walk down the trails too and saw some ice on the water and beautiful rushing water. It was fun afternoon and certainly wore out some active little boys.

Luke and Uno

Jack received the Uno card game for Christmas after telling us that he played it in school all the time. I was excited because it was always one of my favorite games. Luke was quick to pick up on learning it and now beats all of us quite often. His favorite win is saving all his wild cards for the very end!

Turkeys

These wild turkeys have been visiting our yard since just after Thanksgiving. The boys get so excited when they see them. This morning they were found on our sidewalk, rock wall, and walking through the swing set. Later in the afternoon they showed up again in the front yard and around the neighborhood. Todd officially named them Henrietta and Josephine.

Finger Painting

I finally gave in to letting the boys open their finger paints that they received from Christmas. See in the world of four little boys, its not just a matter of sitting down to a little finger painting. Its keeping everyone in one spot and making sure the paint stays on the paper and off the walls, chairs, clothes, floor, cats, etc. I knew they would have fun and since they have several gallons of paint, we best get using it. They jumped right in and each showed their style of painting.

Gavin-fist full of paint sloshing all around

Ethan- careful, precise, wanting to clean himself constantly

Jack-a minimal design including Santa(of course) and his name

Luke- a happy scene, eventually making sure to use every color and cover his paper to show as little white space as possible.

Messy, but fun activity for everyone!

Back to School

Today was the first day back to school for Ethan and Gavin after Christmas vacation. Jack and Luke started back yesterday. Sometimes it very like they were home for months, but really it was a short vacation, 5 days plus the weekends. It will be nice though to get back into our usual routine again.

Falling asleep.

I made Ethan and Gavin's beds shortly before tucking them in and doing our bedtime routine. They decided to stay up and play for a bit. When I went back to their room a few hours later to turn off their light, I found them snuggled up together on the floor surrounded by toys. Its times like this when I think it must be so fun to have a twin with you all the time.

Happy New Year!

I decided this year I am going to try to keep a record of our days. Somehow it is already 2012 and I just can not believe it. We have 6 year olds and 3 year olds that grow and change so much every day. I used to scrapbook, but making time and space for that is just not happening at the moment. Instead I'm going to use this blog to hopefully capture the important and not so important days of our life. If I'm lucky, I'll convince Todd to get on here too and share, since his written accounts are so much better mine:) Here's to 2012 being the best year yet in our family and for those that we love!
